Can am
CanAm is a bike making subsidiary of the Bombardier Recreational Products, a Canadian company.
The devices created an immediate impact with riders winning Bronze, Silver and Gold medals in the International Six Days Trial, a kind of offroad bike Olympics. The organization swept the 1974 AMA 250 cc motocross national tournament with Marty Tripes, CanAm riders Gary Jones and Jimmy Ellis, ending first, second and third, the next year. The motorcycles acquired a reputation for their high-power outputs.
The Rotax motors used a somewhat unusual type of consumption. A rotary disk system was applied and this plate was changed repeatedly between trail and course and MX versions. The MX3, created in 1977, was the head of Can-am. Its 36 hp was 6 more compared to the closest competition.
However, shortly after the introduction, the Bombardier corporation changed its precedence from products towards diversification into aircraft production and then, many years later, into the transit equipment business. As an effect, investments within the young CanAm department were reduced considerably. 1987 was the last year CanAm motorcycles were created.
In 2006, Bombardier Recreational Products reintroduced the brand with its allterrain vehicles. In 2007, the brand was likewise used to introduce the CanAm Spyder a new threewheeled roadster.
