The first Land Rover was exposed at the Amsterdam Auto Show on April 30, 1948 where it captured the attention of many. Far mode orders compared to the maximum which can be handled poured in, making a star out of the newly-launched vehicle. Constructed on a Jeep chassis, the Land Rover's main selling points were its hardy, light weight building and skill of effortlessly covering rough terrain.

By that time, the company had experienced possession changes: In 1967, Rover became part of Leyland Motors (afterwards called British Leyland). British Aerospace after got Land Rover.

In 1976, one million Land Rovers were assembled and 2 yrs later Land Rover is eventually established as a different brand, yet subordinated to as Rover Group British Leyland, which is later renamed.

Few American buyers ever deploy the complete offroad system of Range Rovers and Land Rovers on road surfaces more ambitious than Rodeo Drive on Black Friday, though Land Rovers competing Jeep for offroad and awful - road ability.

Land Rover reached the 4-million barrier of vehicles constructed in 2007 and in the subsequent year the business commemorates the 60th anniversary of the primary Land Rover vehicle. 2008 is also the season has become its leader and when Tata Motors purchases Land Rover.

Actually, TaTa has to date been a really good owner of both Land Rover and Jaguar since getting the brands from Ford. Not only has the business introduced a new Evoque version that won Motor Trend "Truck of the Full year," but it is moving intentionally with a Defender notion that the US is most likely to see by 2013 or 2014.
