DMV Driving Test

Are you ready to take on the road? If this is the case then that means that you are ready to get your license. Before you can do so you would need to pass the DMV driving test.

The thought of having to take the DMV test may be making you nervous. It is not unusual to feel anxious when you know that someone is going to be watching your every move.

The only way to make sure that you pass the test is to be prepared. Here is a look at everything you need to know to do so.

Make Sure Your Car Is Working

No matter how prepared you are to take your test if you don’t have a working car you will not pass the driving test. The DMV instructor will inspect the car to make sure that it is working.

If it is not working properly then you will not be allowed to use it for your test.

Know When Your DMV Driving Test Begins

Knowing when your test begins doesn’t just refer to knowing the date you should show up for the test.

Once you get in the car before you even start the engine the test has begun. Adjust your mirrors and buckle your seatbelt before you even start the engine.

Do not start the engine first. The best way to ensure that you do not make these simple mistakes is to do a DMV practice test ahead of the real test.

Break Safely

Breaking smoothly is one of the important factors in passing your test. When you approach traffic signs or traffic lights make sure that you’re not jamming on the brakes.

Your defensive driving skills should be in high gear here as well. Make sure that you keep a sharp lookout for any potential problems that could happen.

Remember at all times that your examiner is looking at everything you do. This includes monitoring how you react to your surroundings and how aware you are of them.

Change Lanes Like a Boss

When it comes to changing lanes you should remember the SMOG principle. S stands for signal. Always make sure that you signal to other drivers so that they can know what you intend to do.

M stands for mirrors. Check your mirrors at all times and make sure that there is enough space to change lanes.

O stands for over. Look over your shoulder whenever possible to check for your blind spot. Finally, G stands for go. Once everything seems clear change your lane and go.

Ace the Test

Thinking about how you’re going to pass your DMV driving test can be incredibly nerve-wracking. However, preparing your car, and reminding yourself of the basics will get you through the experience.

You should also ensure that you stay aware of what is happening around you. In this way, you will not be caught off guard during the test.
