Frazer Nash
Frazer Nash is really a British sports car maker and engineering firm founded by Archibald FrazerNash in 1922. It created sports cars incorporating a unique multichain transmission prior to the 2nd World War as well as imported BMW cars for the United Kingdom. Following the war it continued creating sports cars with normal transmission until 1957. Additionally, it continued promoting bikes and BMW vehicles and eventually in 1956 became the official importer of Porsche vehicles.
Company history
The firm was founded in 1922 by Archibald FrazerNash who had, with Henry Ronald Godfrey founded and operate the GN cyclecar organization. The organization entered receivership in 1927 and reemerged as AFN Limited. The organization created around 400 of the well-known chain-drive versions between 1924 and 1939.
AFN, as Frazer NashBMW Ltd became assemblers and importers of BMW automobiles in 1934 and offered them. In 1954 the business began to sell automobiles, getting the official importer for UK in 1956.
There are many successor organizations still-active in engineering consultancy, engineering Ltd. and electric & hybrid car technologies.
AFN Ltd created about 85 more vehicles from 1948 to 1957. These vehicles were completely unrelated to the chaindrive prewar Frazer Nash, but were mainly a direct development of the athletic BMW 328, mentioned previously. AFN, as proprietors of the UNITED KINGDOM rights to the 328 engine licensed Bristol to ensure it is against an arrangement for the supply to them. Versions include the Mille Miglia, the Le Mans Replica, the Targa Florio, the Le Mans Coupe along with the Sebring. The automobiles are quite highly-prized by collectors. The firm participated in the 1952 Formula One-season, the vehicles driven by Ken Wharton and Tony Crook.
