Skoda's world wide April income hit by transition to new Octavia
PRAGUE (Reuters) -- Skoda's international income fell by 4.6% to 77,600 in April due to a change to a clean Octavia compact type and continued weak demand in-a few European regions, the carmaker said today.
Skoda, the Czech Republic's largest exporter and something of Germany's Volkswagen Group, often appears like a measure of the export-reliant economy's performance.
In the time the automaker offered 298,000 cars, down by 8 percent year on year.
Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland said the organization had expected income in-the first 1 / 2 of 2013 could possibly be below the 2012 levels as a result of introduction of the modern Octavia car and wagon models.
"Moreover, some areas remain under a robust force which we cannot fully avoid," Vahland said.
