Business Roots

We took on the name Chevron once we got Gulf Oil Corporation in 1984, which almost doubled our global proved crude oil and gas reserves. Our merger with Gulf was subsequently the greatest in US history.

Another important division of the family tree is The TX Fuel Company, formed in Beaumont, TX, in 1901. The acquisition of Unocal Corporation in 2005 strengthened Chevron's standing as an energy industry leader, raising our petroleum and natural gas assets all over the world.

Global Range

Our highly skilled and varied international work force consists of about 61, 900 employees, including more than 3, 600 service station employees.

In the year 2012, Chevron's typical net production was 2.61 million barrels of oilequivalent per day.

Retail outlets are supported by our marketing network on six continents. And we've invested in 11 powergenerating facilities in Asia and america.

Technology and Emerging Energy

We're focusing on technologies that enhance our capability to discover, develop and produce natural gas and petroleum from standard and non-traditional resources.

We are also investing in the creation of emerging energy systems, like piloting innovative solar technology for our operations, finding better ways to create nonfood - based biofuels and enlarging our renewable energy resources.
