Hyundai brand history

In 1960, there was the first automobile brand in South Korea, which named Hyundai. We may notice stable growth of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group. This Company sells its car on the American and European markets during last ten years. The plant in Ulsan is able to produce 1.6 million vehicles a year.

The Hyundai Motor Company became the first Korean car manufacturer in spite of during post-war time some Korean politics considered that import of automobile would be better than had own Korean car brand.  

Chung Ju Yung was born in a poor family of farmers and though he could lead his company on the international auto market. In 1968, the Hyundai Motor Company signed a technology-share agreement with the Ford brand. Soon the world saw the first Hyundai car – the Cortina model. Then there was the Pony car that was entirely Korean designed and built model. The Korean company used the Japanese technology of Mitsubishi to develop a vehicle.

In 1975, just the Pony model was the first vehicle of Hyundai that was introduced. The 1986 was a year when the U.S.A. and Latin America met the new Hyundai Excel, which became the popular car because of its good price. During the first seven months, 100,000 cars of the Excel model were sold. 

The Hyundai Sonata was the first car of the Korean brand that was built using only own Korean technologies. Unfortunately, the Hyundai Company got many complaints according to poor quality, reliability and safety.

The Hyundai brand began to invest to developing of cars and as a result, when the Hyundai solved their problems with reliability and introduced the 10-year warranty sales of Hyundai vehicles increased. More about 10-year warranty. Owing to introduction of it, the Hyundai Company took the place in the international top 10 of carmakers.

Now days Hyundai vehicles are sold in 193 countries, through 5,000 offices and showrooms. The sales increasing gave the Hyundai an opportunity to be one of 100 best automobile brands in the world. The company invests to advertisement and developing brand. The Hyundai logo “H” means two men who are shaking their hands.
