PETERBILT 320: NEW INTERIOR
Peterbilt Motors Company unveiled its all new Model 320 inside during the Waste Expo show in New Orleans, La.
"The Model 320's new inside produces unparalleled fit and finish and gives drivers a comfortable and productive working environment for excellent performance within this specialty market," said Robert Woodall, Peterbilt Manager of Sales and Marketing.
Ergonomic, Efficient Design
The Model 320 inside underwent a floor to-ceiling redesign, beginning with the new ergonomic dashboard layout.
"All of the new features help ensure that the driver is functioning at peak efficiency and productivity."
An in - form process embeds colour right into the dashboard for a lasting, long lasting finish, which virtually eliminates fading, peeling and scratching. Removable dashboard panels allow simple access to HVAC and electric parts. An improved HVAC system keeps consistent and reliable functionality cooling and heat throughout the cab. The new header comprises toggle switches and overhead HVAC controls for the ConcertClass audio system and body devices.
The cab's B pillar has been redesigned to contain cab corner windows for improved visibility. A lowered dashboard brow and a big, retractable sunshade that distributes the span of the front windshield also leads to improved total visibility.
The new interior comprises a big, multipurpose centre cabinet. Removable panels allow for simple setup and suitable access to body controls.
The cab features the substantial use of modern LED lighting, including 2 directional dome lights in the headliner, together with 2 over the-door lights and one big light on the back wall. LED lighting additionally provides prolonged bulb life and reduces power consumption and eye tiredness.
Comfort and safety were key concerns in the new pedal position package.
"Our engineers consulted with numerous customers throughout the design process to get their input concerning the pedal placement and room between the accelerator and the brakes," said Sproull. "This led to an optimized pedal layout that offers a more comfortable driving position."

The base of Peterbilt's hardy Model 320 is the huck-bolted aluminum cab that features lap seam construction and bulkhead design doors on a zinc coated, steel subframe for maximum durability and corrosion resistance. In applications where stopping distance is crucial, the 320 comes standard with air disc brakes, which reduce service time and enhance brake life. An industry leading, 65 - level cab rock provides technicians easy access to essential service points for decreased downtime and improved serviceability. Use of LED marker lights, instead of incandescents, expands service periods.
A 90 - level door opening with an impact resistant, bolton measure and multiple grab handles provides simple entrance and exit. An increasingly smooth ride is provided by the exclusive use of taper leaf front springs. An impressive 44 degree wheel cut enables motorists to easily maneuver in congested urban environments.
Both configurations provide flexibility to find the fuel tanks either off the frame rail or incorporated with the body.
