2014 Cadillac to sell first '14 CTS VSport to charity
General Motors said Wednesday that it'll be giving the very first generation version of the 2014 Cadillac CTS VSport to the SAE Foundation. The vehicle will subsequently be sold at Barrett Jackson after in 2013 with the profits going to the foundation's science, technology, engineering and math pupil programs.
The CTS VSport, or as Cadillac formally spells it, Vsport, was exposed before this year in the New York Car Show. The vehicle features a double-turbo 3.6 liter V6 churning out 420 hp and 430 lb ft of torque mated to an eight speed transmission.
Mary Barra, GM's senior vice president of international product development, became the first girl to wwithin the SAE Foundation's Business Leadership Award within the accolade's 25 year history.
"The SAE Foundation's STEM educational programs are critical to ensuring we ignite the love for mathematics and science in young pupils who'll be the future leaders of the auto industry," said Barra to The Detroit News. "It is fitting to support SAE's plans by giving a vehicle that embodies what can be done when genius meets engineering excellence."
The purchaser of the automobile in the auction will also get a performance driving school bundle.
