Afghan suicide car bombing kills American contractors

Last Up-To-Date Aug 2-2, 2015 12:56 PM EDTKABUL, Afghanistan -- A suicide car bomber attacked a NATO convoy going by way of a busy neighborhood in Afghanistan's capital Saturday, killing at least 12 individuals, including three American contractors for the global military force, authorities stated.NATO said the slain civilian contractors were Americans. One died immediately in the assault and 2 after died of their wounds. The Taliban immediately denied it was behind in the strike in Kabul's Macrorayan community, although militants increasingly have already been targeting Kabul in recent months and sometimes do not maintain strikes that maim many civilians. The strike hit near the personal Shinozada hospital, the sound of the strong blast roaring through the capital. Ambulances and Afghan security forces immediately surrounded the blast website, obstructing accessibility off from about half of a a mile away.U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Monica Cummings told CBS Information' Ahmad Mukhtar that the blast was considered to be about a mile a way from the embassy. The bombing injure 66 Afghan civilians, said Wahidullah Mayar, a Wellness Ministry spokesman. At least one armored car in the convoy were ruined by the blast. Najib Danish, a deputy Interior Ministry spokesman, stated the strike ruined more than a dozen civilian vehicles parked in the road and passing by."lots of dead bodies and wounded casualties were there-after the explosion occurred in the region," stated Mohammad Hussain, who had been wounded in the assault. "There were lots of casualties."No group immediately claimed responsibility for the assault. Within an e-mail to journalists, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied his team was responsible. Nevertheless, the Taliban has stepped-up its assaults on Afghan security forces since US and NATO troops stopped their combat mission in the state last year. The militants also have started a number of strikes in Kabul in recent months following Afghan authorities declaring the departure of Taliban figurehead Mullah Mohammad Omar. Their goals have included international military and civilian convoys. On Aug. 7, a Taliban assault on a NATO military base near Kabul's airport terminal killed an American soldier and eight Afghan contractors. A Taliban-maintained suicide car bombing targeting a NATO convoy on June 30 on the primary highway to the Kabul airport injure two U.S. soldiers and at least 24 the others while killing two Afghan civilians. On May 17, a British security contractor was killed when the armored vehicle he was traveling in for Eupol was hit with a suicide vehicle bomber. Two Afghan girls nearby also were killed.
