Apple eyes proving grounds for self-driving car, report says

Apple is considering using a former military base north-east of San Fran as a large-protection proving ground for autonomous vehicles it's building, based on an internet report by British paper The Guardian.
Technologists in the technology giant's Specific Projects group happen to be in connection with representatives of GoMentum Station, a 2,100-acre facility on the website of what used to be the Concord Naval Weapons Station, in Concord, Calif.
Correspondence received by The Guardian through public information requests reveals Apple is considering utilizing the sprawled sites, which includes more than 20 miles of paved roads, town streets, railroad crossings and tunnels, to examine self-driving automobiles.
Both Honda and Mercedes Benz happen to be using GoMentum Station for screening their particular sovereign automobiles.
News of Apple's curiosity in the previous base is the most recent peek into Apple's secret sovereign-auto application. The manufacturer of iPhones and MacBooks had said little publicly about its car-improvement initiatives, but recently it's employed some well known executives from auto makers.
