Both Audi A6 and S6 of 2016 model year get new powertrains, design and technologies
The Audi A6 gets updating in its middle cycle including gearbox, powertrain and infotainment system.
The updated exterior includes redesigned exhaust pipes, a new more rigid grille, and sharpened headlights. There are LED turn signals, and the brand’s Matrix LED headlights technology.
The interior is also updated with improved infotainment system and the brand’s MMI systems in navigation and other assistant systems.
Owing to using lightweight materials, springs and suspensions made of reinforced glass fiber, the 2016 A6 is lighter than the smallest Cadillac ATS as well.
For the European auto market, the novelty will be equipped with the basis 1.8-liter TFSI engine, but also the carmaker plans to offer the new 2.0-liter TFSI unit.
Moreover, the new A6 will be available with both TFSI and TDI 3.0-liter powertrains.
The gearbox will be offered in different combinations: eight-speed automatic tip-tronic, seven-speed S-tronic and the basic six-speed manual gearboxes specially for the European auto markets; for the U.S. there will be seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the new eight-speed automatic transmission.
The S6 variant is expected to be equipped with the 4.0-liter TFSI engine, which produces the output of 450 horsepower. the acceleration from 0 mph to 62 mph is in 4.4 seconds.
The new RS 6 Avant get the similar powertrain as the S6 but the power is 560 horsepower, and the acceleration is from0 mph to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. Both sporty variants have all-wheel-drive quattro system.
Selling begins after the official debut in Paris next month.
