The Peugeot brand expands the range of sports cars; the auto manufacturer has produced the RCZ R, which can produce the output of 270 horsepower and the 208 GTI for a few last years.
As we remember, the carmaker presented its novelty – the 308 R at the famous Auto Show in Frankfurt in this September. This concept is based on the Golf 308, which is also a main rival of the Peugeot 308 R. The novelty is equipped with a four-cylinder engine producing the power of 270 horsepower.
This concept is made of a carbon fiber, probably; this prototype will be used for the new version of 308 GTI than it will be still an only 308 R.
According to the official statement of the representative of the brand, they have some opportunities to launch both models – the 308 GTI and the 308 R. We will see in the future…
If there is the chance to introduce a vehicle with the Picat engine in the auto markets, so the carmaker has to take it.
If you have no idea what is the Picat engine, the next information is especially for you. This is the 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that can produce the output of 270 horsepower with the torque of 342 lb-ft. The powertrain was improved owing to the twin-scroll turbo.
If the Peugeot 308 R gets that engine, it will meet competitors among sports cars such as the Golf R from Volkswagen, the Ford Focus RS and the Honda Civic R.
Unfortunately, customers from the U.S.A. will not be given an opportunity to buy this model because the French auto manufacturer does not sell in the American car market.
