The Mercedes E-class of 2017 model year
The current version of the Mercedes E-class first was presented in 2010, and then it was updated this year. However, the carmaker is working on development the next generation of the E-class, which is expected to appear next months.
Now, the new E-class is like a prototype. It is known, the new E-class is built on the brand’s MRA platform, which used in the late C-class; that means the novelty will be more efficient, rigid and lighter as well. The MRA platform consists of lightweight materials such as aluminum and others.
The new E-class will be available with six-cylinder straight-mounted engine, three-cylinder and four-cylinder units. Moreover, the E-class will be also offered in the AMG version, which is equipped with the 4.0-liter V8 unit. The transmission is planned to be the nine-speed automatic gearbox.
Probably, the renewed E-class will get a longer wheelbase to be offered in different versions: a sedan including long-wheelbase, coupe, convertible and wagon.
In style, there is more aerodynamic and sportier exterior. The auto manufacturer also plans to produce the CLS-class of the third generation, but certainly, the new CLS-class will be just a coupe version with four-doors of the new E-class as well.
