The Opel carmaker plans to build 27 new cars and 17 new engines by 2018
The largest auto manufacturer General Motors is going on developing the Opel brand and its presence in the international auto industry. Recently, the carmaker has announced its plans to produce 27 new cars and 17 new engines by 2018.
This strategy will help Opel to strengthen its presence and reach 8 per cent of the European auto market share as well.
The Opel’s popularity is reducing; we remind you that the Opel brand has lost over 18 billion dollars since 1999. Nothing has been working –closing some factories, using global platform etc. General Motors has even took out its Chevrolet brand from Europe to help Opel to strengthen there.
We suppose you may remember that first the Opel brand declared its ten-year plan in 2012. The carmaker agrees that this year is one of the hardest for the company.
According to some information, Opel planned to start launching new model in four years. They will be the mid-sized Insignia, the compact Astra, the subcompact Corsa and, certainly, the mini-car Agila. Moreover, the carmaker said a new crossover might come into the cars’ range of Opel too.
In addition, the carmaker has confirmed launching a new car for the U.S. auto market as well as for Australia.
