Intel set to take on automotive market with new products

The strategy, Intel said, was to hasten initiation through a standardized platform strategy that functioned nicely in computing towards a future of sovereign vehicles.
It seeks to shorten time it takes to develop IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) systems while halving related costs.
In parallel, Intel unveiled a mission geared toward collecting data about how drivers communicate with their automobiles and immediate environment (including pedestrians and other motorists).
The firm's corporate vice president for the Internet-of-things group, Doug Davis, included "Our aim will be to fuel the development from convenience attributes accessible the automobile today to increased safety features of tomorrow and eventually self-driving abilities."
The news coincided with Google's launching of a variety of self-driving, quasi-sentient automobiles which could revolutionise transportation.
