Audi Sportback Concept was first introduced in January, 2009. Year and a half later during Paris Motor Show the German car manufacturer presented ready for production A7 and in 2011 it debuted on USA market. The car of year 2012is produced only in hatchback version.
Nearly five meters in length (4969 mm) and nearly two meters in width (1911мм) – with such dimensions of Audi A7 Sportback, undoubtedly, declare the belonging to class "luxury" cars. The main feature of appearance of a novelty is absolutely new to the Audi model of such class a 5-door design of a body with hollow a falling roof. As a whole the total weight of a novelty decreased by 20 percent, in comparison with the standard car of the same size. It is necessary to tell that reduction of weight gives a notable gain not only in dynamic characteristics, but also seriously improves controllability of the car.

The interior trim concedes nothing to the models of luxury class. Easy forms prevail inside. The distinctive feature of the car is asymmetry which is present even at design of the central air ducts. There are four seats in the salon full of luxury, convenience and innovative technologies. A7 interior with its refined and magnificent trim, is almost deprived of plastic, it is generally made of leather, wood and metal. The wood trim is made of the nut tree, but representatives of the company offer also new option with use of a light tree with dark streaks. Backs of back seats are convertible which can increase rather big luggage compartment from 535 to impressive 1390 liters.
The line of engines for new Audi A7 turns on four V6 motors with direct injection. These are two 3,0-liter turbodiesels developing the power of 150 kW (204 hp), 180 kW (245 hp) and two petrol, the atmospheric motor with a working volume of 2,8 liters with a power of 150 kW (204 hp) and 3,0-liter equipped with the 220 kW turbo-supercharging (300 hp). The most powerful modification with the 300-strong motor 3,0 TFSI is accelerated from 0-100 km/h for 5,6 seconds, the maximum speed limited to electronics makes 250 km/h. Thus fuel consumption in the mixed cycle will make 8,2 liters on 100 km.
Audi A7 is quite capable to compete with BMW 5 Series GT.
