84-car freight train derails in Houston

HOUSTON -- Authorities say a cargo train has de-railed on a bridge over a Houston freeway and a minumum of one automobile fell onto the route below. Houston Fire Division authorities say no one was hurt in the mishap around 8:30 a.m. CDT Thursday. No freight spilled.

A Kansas City Southern Railway Company declaration claims one locomotive and nine cars derailed, including 2 that fell in the bridge. One wound up up on Old Katy Road. The Texas Department of Transportation has closed the four lane freeway in both ways.A business official says the train was transporting several types of cargo but that no harmful materials spilled. The reason for the derailment is under investigation. The train has a 2-man team and was jump from Beaumont to Kendleton, with two locomotives and 8-4 automobiles. Read Source
