BMW started selling its X1 model in the U.S. market only a year ago. This week the auto manufacturer introduced the prototype of the next generation of X1 in Detroit.
As we could notice, the novelty became shorter and sportier than the present X1 model. This future prototype is based on a new platform including the short-cut length of a vehicle.
The present X1 is built on a rear-wheel-drive platform, which is used in BMW 1-series cars, but this prototype has the new UKL platform used in the latest Mini Cooper that was presented in Detroit this week.
The auto manufacturer does not plan this new generation of X1 is as sporty as a previous generation model. That is why the introduced prototype is an all-wheel drive car.
The BMW maker has not announced yet what type of powertrain will be mounted in the novelty. However, the carmaker realizes that the new X1 may become popular and bestselling among the American customers owing to a four-cylinder engine.
The X1 of next generation is expected to come on sale next year after the official debut, where we will know more details about the car. We will keep you informed.
