Boy survived floods by cutting car air bag, jumping off roof

HILDALE, Utah -- Among the kids who survived lethal flash flood in a tiny polygamous city on the Utah-Arizona boundary told the state he escaped by cutting via an airbag, climbing out a window and jumping-off the roofing of a vehicle. Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, who traveled to the community of Hildale, informed The Associated Press that the lad seemed traumatized when he met with him fleetingly Tuesday.At least 12 people died when two automobiles were swept away by raging floodwaters Monday. Three survived, for example, lad, plus one kid stays lost.

Cox claims the lad he talked with "was nevertheless quite lost, as it is possible to imagine, because it was a bit surreal to him and everyone."Cox claims the lad's mother and many siblings perished in the floods. Meanwhile, seven hikers who entered a narrow desert canyon to get a day of canyoneering became trapped when a flash flood filled the chasm with water, killing at least six of them in Zion National Park in southern Utah, authorities said Wednesday.The Ventura County Sheriff's Office in California said late Wednesday that one of its own sergeants, Steve Arthur, perished in the floods and was absolutely identified, reviews CBS Salt-Lake-City affiliate KUTV. The section also stated Arthur's spouse, Linda, was with him and is still missing."Steve was recognized for his tireless efforts working with neighborhood youth both on and off responsibility and possessed an enormous compassion for humanity," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Steve is survived by his three adult children and seven grandchildren."
