CEO: Lexus should have launched three-row CUV, not RC coupe

If Lexus had a mulligan to perform, it could have established a three-row cross over as opposed to the RC sports coupe, the manufacturer best Usa executive has disclosed.
The RC coupe, which is a good vendor for Lexus, quenched sellers' thirst to get a ring-kind car, but Jim Lentz, Toyota Motor Corp.'s Us CEO, claims a three-row crossover to rival the Mercedes Benz GL and Audi Q7 is a a more intelligent play."In hindsight, if I was creating this choice 10 years ago, seeing what I see now, the three-row [cross over] likely would have been the better perform to emerge first," Lentz told Automotive News.He continued: "Strategically that is a a more significant vehicle to have than always a lower-volume, higher-priced picture merchandise." The Remote Control has accounted for 4,258 revenue so far this year -- beating out the firm's main LS sedan -- but Toyota estimates that a three-row SUV could have added 35,000 models to the manufacturer yearly sales count. By that measure Lexus could have offered around 11,500 models of its hypothetical Q-7 competition through the first four months of 2015.Lentz declined to discuss whether Lexus was now working on a three-row crossover, but that looks like a different possibility. Lexus has two-three-row choices in the GX and LX, but equally of these versions are truck-centered and aren't as easy driving or fuel-efficient as auto-based utility designs such as the RX.Pictures by Drew Johnson.
