Chevrolet Cruze 2016 model year
The Chevrolet manufacturer is developing its new Cruze model, which comes on the market in two years.
Firstly, the carmaker planned to launch a new compact sedan by the end of this year but, unfortunately, most likely we will not see the novelty until the end of 2015. Thus the new Chevrolet Cruze will be a car of 2016 model year.
This delay allows making more changes in a technical part.
The reason of launching of the new generation of Cruze is in its best-selling ability. According to sales statistics, the Chevrolet Cruze sedan is very popular with customers since 2009 when this model was firstly launched.
The new Cruze is expected to be longer in a back part, what gives more spacious for rear passengers and a truck compartment.
The 2016 model will be available with 2.0-liter four-cylinder and three-cylinder engines. By the way, the last one was developed by engineers of General Motors and planned to be mounted into the new Opel Adam. In addition, the carmaker plans to offer a model equipped with a turbo diesel powertrain.
The Chevrolet manufacturer will produce this novelty at the factory of General Motors, which is located in Ohio. There they will assemble vehicles for the U.S. auto market. Unfortunately, we have no information when and where the Chevrolet brand starts launching the 2016 Cruze for Europe. However, we have no doubts that it will happen soon.
The model will be based on the updated platform Delta II, which will be renamed to D2XX. The D2XX platform will be used in most new crossovers, hatchbacks and even electric cars.
