Jaguar PROJECT 7 to make debut at Goodwood
After years of stagnancy, Jaguar has lately been creating some stunning cars. The XFR - S brought attention, as did the XKR - XJR and S GT, to a lesser degree.
It is called Project 7, named after Jag's seven wins at Le Mans between 1951 1990 - a report for a British manufacturer. Directed by design guru Ian Callum, it is a singleseater sports car offering hints of the old D-Type. And it is amazing.
The vehicle comes with no roof (expect it does not rain in Goodwood) plus a fixed rear wing. It is also been lowered 10 millimeters and receives suspension tweaks; it sports carbonfiber splitters and hood vents, in addition to a lowered windshield. Frankly, it is the way the Aston Martin CC100 Concept should have appeared; refined and amazing, rather than like a catfish.
The passenger seat has turned into a holder, carrying a customdesigned Project 7 helmet in matching blue paint. Energy? Well, it keeps the auto's 550 hp supercharged 5.0liter V-8, which is plenty punchy, sprinting to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds while meshing to an eightspeed automatic transmission.
Project 7 stays only a oneoff design study, and went from paper to sidewalk in just four months. Despite being a notion, it is additional evidence of Jaguar's march back into the limelight.
