The board of Johnson Controls Inc. has expressed support for CEO Alex Molinaroli following news and proceedings that detailed wide-ranging monetary ties between Molinaroli and a condemned Ponzi schemer.
In a statement, direct manager William Lacy stated Molinaroli gets the board's "total support."
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported a week ago that the national fraud case against Joseph Zada revealed Molinaroli supplied him with countless dollars over several years and enabled him to stay rent free in a Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich., mansion the chief executive officer had bought.
"The board is assured that A-Lex Molinaroli's participation in the Zada case is an ominous private issue which does not have any relevancy to Johnson Controls," Lacy stated in the declaration. "Alex gets the board's total support as chairperson and chief executive officer. Under his direction the organization has provided strong operating results while simultaneously experiencing a tactical transformation made to push potential growth."
Individually, a JCI spokesman stated Molinaroli is still planned to take part in the firm's fourth quarter conference-call Thursday. JCI is in the method of spinning off its automotive seating and interiors companies to focus on its creating controls procedures.
On the week end, Molinaroli, 56, informed the Journal Sentinel that he'd given Zada cash to take a position, even though he also stated he failed to understand Zada well and failed to understand how his cash was to be invested.
Alex explained he told the board of the issue Friday, after the Zada ties were summarized in the initial Journal Sentinel report. Molinaroli informed the newspaper the board is "worried" about him but added he feels his occupation is safe.
Inside their case in US District Court in FL, U.S. prosecutors said Molinaroli compensated Zada's authorized costs and agreed to to spend as much as $20-million to supply restitution to individuals who lost cash in the scheme. Zada was convicted on 15 counts of fraud.
Molinaroli verified to the paper he'd paid legal charges but stated the repayments were assumed to be loans. Alex also stated he mentioned the issue of paying restitution to Zada's casualties but stopped short of providing to do this.
The Zada controversy comes a year subsequent to the board reduced Molinaroli's $20-million pay package by $1million after he confessed to an affair having a advisor who had been doing enterprise with JCI. The relationship resulted in a dirty, public divorce together with his ex wife, Patsy.
Molinaroli became familiar with Zada in 2006 through his ex wife's son, John Shealy, as stated by the Journal Sentinel. In 2013, Shealy pleaded guilty to charges connected to a national investigation of a big artificial grass creation band.
