Lamborghini plans to assemble its new SUV at the Volkswagen plant in Slovakia
According to the official information of the Volkswagen sources, the Lamborghini auto manufacturer has made decision to launch its Urus SUV in Slovakia. The production is planned to start in three years.
The Lamborghini Urus is expected to be super-luxury SUV. It will be based on the MLB platform developed by the Volkswagen Group. In the future, this platform will be used in the next Porsche Cayenne.
As we have already said, the novelty will be assembled at the same plant where the carmaker produces the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7 and, of course, the Volkswagen Touareg as well.
We have noticed a trend in the auto industry, currently all luxury brands such as Bentley, Lamborghini and Porsche try to attract more potential customers in the Middle East, Russia and China.
Another brand-Maserati is on its way to launch the Levante SUV in the upcoming year. In its turn, Rolls-Royce is also close to the decision of starting the SUV production soon and as a result, an opportunity of entering the property segment.
The Volkswagen Company has prepared to increase its SUV production. Recently, the auto manufacturer has equipped the plant in Slovakia with the biggest metal press that produces aluminum and steel parts for SUVs. Owing to using of aluminum, the carmaker plans to reduce the cars’ weight and their fuel consumption.
Last month in Geneva, the Lamborghini manufacturer presented its new Huracan supercar, which replaced the Gallardo. Due to this novelty, sales grew up and currently the carmaker is expecting the strong increasing of demand for the new Huracan next year.
The Urus is the first SUV of Lamborghini since its LM002 of 1990.
As we have been informed, the Urus is planned to bring to the market by 2017.
