Land Rover Discovery to get SVX treatment?
Jaguar Land-Rover is apparently taking care of an intense offroad edition of the next generation Land-Rover Discovery.
Probably known as the Discovery SVX, the version would function as a high performance robust counterpart to the road-centered SVR constructs, with both manufactured by JLR's Unique Vehicle Operations department. The company is expected to introduce its nextgeneration Discovery sometime next year, while the SVX off-roader will land a year or more later, according to an Autocar report."There is a market for more off-road capability, so of course we're looking at it," SVO head John Edwards said, without divulging any details surrounding specific models. Technologists are considered focused on creating new specialized alternatives to off-roading problems, instead of just lifting the vehicle somewhat higher and including knobby tires. The company has recently previewed 'digital' columns that remove blind spots, while a 'clear' hood jobs a view from a camera on the windshield via HUD.Edwards formerly suggested that an SVX Defender is in the functions, using inspiration from automobiles that drive-in offroad contests including the Camel Trophy and Dakar Rally. A generation edition of the Discovery Eyesight theory could bow after in 2013 in Paris, although the firm hasn't yet pinned down a special unveiling date.
