Maserati plans to launch its SUV next year
Recently the Maserati manufacturer has declared that it plans to produce the SUV named Levante at the Italian plant in Turin in 2015. Besides, the carmaker expects to produce about 300,000 vehicles yearly.
Maserati announced to base the new SUV on the platform, which was used in the all-wheel-drive sedans such as Quattroporte and Ghibli as well.
The auto manufacturer has made decision to use the same powertrains that mounted in both sedans: V6 and V8 turbocharged gasoline engines. However, the most powerful version will be equipped with a unit producing the output of 523 horsepower as the top variant of Quattroporte has. In addition, the future SUV will be available in a diesel version for foreign markets.
Moreover, probably in two years the Maserati will start production sports car Alfieri as soon as the carmaker gets go-ahead. Because there is both the future platform and powertrains.
The Alfieri sports concept is based on the platform of the short variant of the Maserati Gran Turismo, which is also equipped with a V8 engine as sedans Quattroporte and Ghibli. However, the novelty that will come in the market soon will be named as the Gran Sport and get the V6 turbocharged engine.
