Chevrolet has presented the second generation Volt model at the Detroit auto show. The novelty is expected to be on sale as a car of 2016 model year. The Volt gets new shaped, design and updated powertrains.
We would like to remind you that the Volt is not a direct competitor for the Tesla Model S and the Nissan Leaf. The Volt is equipped with the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which may be fueled at any gas stations. However, the electric motor was improved and the car is able to move 50 miles electric only instead of the previous 38 miles. The improved powertrain includes the T-formed lithium-ion battery more capacity by 20 percent. The battery needs about 13 hours of the charging time.
The car is able to accelerate from 0 mph to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds. The fuel consumption is also improved.
The new Volt is available with seating for five people. The interior is offered with different new trims and colors. Moreover, the car gets more new technical features such as a new infotainment system and the instrument panel controls by the brand’s MyLink.
According to the automaker, the new Chevrolet Volt is planned to come on the auto market this year as a car of 2016 model year. Previously prices announcement has not been yet, but we may try to guess if the 2015 Volt costs from 35k dollars.
