New Jeep Wrangler gets an eight-speed automatic transmission

The auto manufacturer is planning to equip the next generation of the Jeep Wrangler with the new eight-speed automatic gearbox. The carmaker expects improving the car’s efficiently by it but without decreasing of the car’s off-road ability.
The Fiat Chrysler Automobiles says to continue using that transmission, which is successfully mounted in other models such as Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ram 1500.
According to the automaker, the new gearbox is able to reduce fuel consumption by 9 percent in comparison with the five-speed automatic transmission.
Early, the FCA planned to equip the regular Wrangler by the new eight-speed automatic gearbox; however, it was impossible without the redesigning of the car.
Moreover, to improve the fuel economy, the auto manufacturer is working on updating of the vehicle to build it with the new aluminum body but keeping the original body-on-frame design as well.
In addition, the FCA has to meet requirement of the standard of the U.S. Corporate average fuel economy and new standards of the global emissions.
