New Maserati Levante of 2016 model year comes soon
The auto manufacturer has started testing of a prototype of a new Levante SUV, which is expected next year as a car of 2016 model year. It is the renewed SUV of Maserati, which is planned to be brought into the production soon.
It has been recently known the novelty is based on the Maserati platform but not on the platform of the Jeep Grand Cherokee as it was planned before. The brand’s platform is used in Quattroporte and Ghibli sedans that including the rear-wheel-drive; however, the renewed platform for the latest Levante will be offered with all-wheel-drive Q4 Maserati’s system.
As we can notice in a prototype, the new Maserati SUV will be as long as the Ghibli midsized sedan, but the novelty has a wider track. Moreover, the novelty will be higher than the sedan that is quite expectable.
The Levante’s style is similar to the style of the brand’s Kubang concept car, which was presented at the Frankfurt auto show in 2011. Certainly, the Maserati Levante will not be a copy car of the Kubang, but it contains some characteristics.
The Maserati’s novelty is planned to meet competition with the luxury SUVs such as Bentley SUV and Porsche Cayenne.
Owing to the powerful powertrain, the novelty is able to accelerate from 0 mph to 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds as well.
The novelty is available with two types of engines. The basic version is equipped with the 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged engine and the 3.8-liter V8 unit; both are gasoline and found in the Quattroporte and Ghibli. The most powerful engine is able to produce the output of 523 horsepower. Moreover, the car will be offered in diesel variants for other auto markets.
The new Levante is launched at the brand’s factory in Italy, which issues 300,000 cars annually. Certainly, the production capacity of the Levante has to be lower to 15,000 vehicles a year.
