Peugeot introduces 270-hp 308 GTi
Paris-based Peugeot has launched a Golfing-sized hot-hatch dubbed 308 GTi. Produced by Peugeot Sport, the auto-maker inhouse racing department, the GTi lies in the top of the 308 line.
Peugeot's newest activity-centered version works on the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder motor that's run a long listing of Peugeot, Citroen, MINI and even BMW versions over the previous few years. Two editions of the GTi are accessible: a base-model that produces 250 hp and 243 pounds-ft. of torque, and a more expensive variant that ups the ante with 270 ponies. Both engines are bolted into a six-speed manual-transmission that spins the front wheels, although the better factory gains from a Torsen limited-slip differential. The 250-hp model can sprint from zero to 62 mph in 6.2 seconds, while the 270-hp variant performs the same job in six seconds flat. Updated brakes on all corners as well as a a reduced suspension program help keep the Turbo-four grunt under control. Also, 270-hp versions come with 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped by tacky Michelin Pilot Supersport tires.
The excess power is complemented by a deeper front fender using a big air dam plus a a skinny strip of chrome trim, a roof-mounted spoiler, and air diffuser and two big round exhaust points. GTi 270 versions may be purchased using a 2-tone paint-job inspired by the 308 R theory that has been revealed in Frankfurt in 2013. The cockpit was spruced up with red stitching on the dash, the door panels as well as the center-console, bucket seats upholstered in a mix of leather and Alcantara, a product-unique device cluster using a checkered flag motif and aluminum pedals. GTis outfitted with the larger engine come standard with a heads up show. The 2015 Peugeot 308 GTi will greet the people for the very first time in the Goodwood Festival of Speed which will take place later this month in England. It's going to go on-sale across Europe from the conclusion of summer time, but pricing info is not printed yet.
