Renault plans to increase its Captur production
Renault plans increasing production of the Captur next year because of growing of demand for small SUV vehicles in the European market.
According to the official statement of the brand’s representative, the auto manufacturer is going to increase building its subcompact SUV to about 120,000 cars until the end of this year and to launch about 160,000 vehicles next year.
The international statistics shows that the selling of small SUVs increased by 38 present during the first six months of this year. The carmaker plans to grow SUV sales to over 580,000 cars per year by 2016.
The Captur SUV is being built at the brand’s factory in Spain and is the replacement of the small minivan Modus, which is slowly sold.
The Renault novelty entered to the European segment of subcompact crossovers and SUVs where are the Opel Mokka, the Trax of Chevrolet and the Peugeot 2008.
The Captur took the third place among the bestselling small SUVs in the European auto markets. About 60,887 Captur cars were sold for the period from January to October this year.
According to the official information, the Nissan Juke took the first place with sales of 91,713 vehicles; 73,491 the Dacia Duster were sold providing the second place in the segment and the fourth bestselling car was Opel Mokka with 58,813 vehicles of sale.
To grow up production of the Mokka and selling in Europe, the carmaker Opel made decision to move launching the Mokka from its plant in Korea to the factory in Spain since the second half of next year.
The Peugeot brand could sell only about 39,660 the 2008 models this year thereby took the fifth place in the segment. In turn, the French car manufacturer plans to increase production of the 2008 to 10,000 cars per a month.
