Rolls-Royce aims Dawn convertible at younger buyers
LONDON -- RollsRoyce today launched images and details of its own Dawn convertible forward of the car's unveiling at next week's Frankfurt autoshow.
The Dawn is founded on the Wraith coupe which is directed at bringing more younger customers and much more girls to the BMW-owned high-end brand.
The Dawn "will build on the achievement of Wraith in bringing a younger generation of productive entrepreneurs," a Rollsroyce spokesman told Automotive News Europe.
Rolls Royce stated the Dawn is going to function as the sole high-end convertible out there with the capacity of seats four adults in comfort. In addition, it maintained the automobile is the world's quietest convertible as well as the first to be as peaceful as the coupe variation on which it is centered.
"Quite basically, it is the most alluring Rollsroyce actually assembled," Rolls Royce CEO Torsten Mueller Oetvoes said in a statement.
Director of Layout Giles Taylor informed Reuters the Dawn would help bring new clients to the 111-year old manufacturer that have a more modern way of automobile ownership.
"Itis a motorist's vehicle and we consider that we're reaching out to clients which could have perceived a degree of opulence and formality with preceding Rolls Royces," he stated. "It's about joining to younger aspirations."
The business name has spent many years attempting to expand from its core industry of old guys who traditionally purchase 200,000 british pound-plus ($305,080) vehicles to be driven by a chauffeur.
Now about 70-percent of purchasers are guys. "I feel the sensuality of the vehicle will pull likely more girls than with the Wraith which ideally stands us in good stead," Taylor stated.
The Morning has a cloth roof which can be lifted or lowered in 2-2 seconds. It's going to go on sale worldwide in the 1st quarter of next year. The vehicle will probably function as brand's 2nd convertible after the greater Phantom Drop-Head Coupe.
The Dawn has somewhat more rear legroom compared to Phantom convertible at 937mm, equaling that of the Wraith coupe. The rear-hinged doors permit easier entrance and exit for travellers in the trunk, the trade name said.
The Dawn utilizes the same 6.6-liter twin-turbo-charged V-12 engine as employed by the Wraith and Phantom sedan. The motor develops 571hp as well as the Dawn can sprint from 0-100kph in 4.9 seconds.
The Dawn is anticipated be priced involving the Wraith, which charges 229,128 lbs ($352,000) in the United Kingdom and the Phantom Drop-Head Coupe, which charges 358,488 lbs.
The Dawn will enlarge Rollsroyce's line-up to four automobiles. The manufacturer has stated it is going to add an sport utility vehicle-styled car.
Rolls Royce offered a report 4,063 automobiles last year, up 12-percent on the year before.
The business name's biggest marketplace is the United States followed by China and the United Arab Emirates, the trade name said. The United Kingdom is No. 4.
Rolls Royce stated that 80-percent of the Dawn's body panels are new in contrast to the Wraith. Changes to the frontend layout contain a more recessed front grille and much more outstanding front fender. The back of the vehicle tapers off in a way that Rollsroyce describes as repeating the boat-tail layouts of early convertible automobiles in the business name.
