Spy photos of the new Mercedes C-Class convertible prototype
We have gotten the freshest spy photos of the prototype of the new Mercedes C-class convertible, which is expected to come on the market next year as a car of 2016 model year. The cabrio variant will join to the C-class lineup to the next generation of the coupe variant.
Bothe version have two doors and they look much sportier than a sedan, which is used as a basic model for sports variants of the C-class. The prototype has a wider track and a vehicle seems lower than the sedan. The convertible version gets side mirrors on the doors but the sedan has them at the base of the A-pillar.
The auto manufacturer plans to use a light and cheaper soft-top for the novelty in spite of the expensive hardtop. The similar soft-top is used in the new E-class and S-class cabrio models.
The novelty will be available in C300 and C400 versions. The C300 is equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing the output of 235 horsepower and the torque of 273 lb-ft, while the C400 has the 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged unit issuing the power of 329 horsepower and the torque of 354 lb-ft as well. The seven-speed automatic gearbox and the rear-wheel-drive will be standard.
The renewed C-class family includes a sedan, coupe, a model with long wheelbase, a plug-in hybrid, a wagon, sports version C450 AMG and the high-performance C63 AMG.
