The BRZ model may be developed by Toyota and BMW in the future
You remember that the joint work between Toyota and Subaru developed sports cars such as the GT 86 and BRZ as well. Recently, the Japanese brand Toyota offered BMW to work together on its new sports car that is the successor of the legend Supra built on the FT-1 concept car. Moreover, the Toyota carmaker plans to ask BMW to help in developing the next generation of the GT 86.
According to the Subaru brand’s statement, the carmaker has not been sure to continue joint development of the GT 86 when BMW comes into this program.
However, the carmaker also cannot deny that the German auto manufacturer may fill the role of Subaru in the development program of GT 86.
Earlier the representative of Toyota carmaker said that the Japanese manufacture planned to make the sports cars lineup included three models. The Toyota brand wants to launch one model above the GT 86 and another one below the GT 86. Al three models are planned to be rear-wheel-drive; in addition, vehicles may be also electrified.
Meanwhile, Toyota plans to equip its next generation of the GT 86 with the hybrid system, which is used in the Yaris hybrid concept and the latest Le Man prototype.
Currently both auto manufacturer Toyota and BMW have confirmed their joint work on a new car’s platform that is planned to be used in a new Toyota’s model and the BMW’s one. The novelty may replace the BMW Z4 in the future.
According to the report, both carmaker are collaborate in looking for a project for a totally new sports model.
