Toyota RAV4 going rally racing
Toyota is planning to enter rally contest using a somewhat uncommon vehicle selection: a two wheel drive RAV 4.
Equipped with simply a rollcage, Tein suspension method and BF Goodrich All Terrain tires, the RAV 4 will enter the Rally America string, whose field includes Ford Fiesta STs, Mitsubishi Lancer Evos, and around and more Subarus than the parking-lot at a Vt antiquing convention. The motor it uses is the inventory 176 hp, 172 lb-feet of torque 2.5L in-line-four, but technologists have lightened the automobile by more than 500 500 lbs.
"I have pushed almost everything every thing Toyota has to offer... and I Have been really impressed together with the RAV 4 limited, compact physique and easy handling. I am getting excited about putting it through the rates this year," said Ryan Millen, sounding suspiciously like some one who was getting paid to push the vehicle. That is likely as the son of racing legend Rod Millen is, actually, getting compensated to push the vehicle. The pairing of a Millen as well as a Toyota offroader have had great effects before, as Ryan won his class in the Baja 1000 last year driving of Tundra TRD Professional.
That isn't the first time Toyota h-AS entered an uncommon front-motorist into Rally America. In 2011 a Scion xD was changed in to an off-tarmac racer. The RAV 4 will compete in the 2WD-open-class in six races beginning June 13.Read Source
