FRANKFURT (Reuters) -- Volkswagen has established an ending of November deadline because of its whistleblower plan designed to motivate staff to disclose to investigators the things they find out about the rigging of diesel discharge tests, a German paper reported.
Volkswagen plans to raise the pressure on workers who had understanding of the scandal but worry they may lose their jobs in the event the info comes to light, the Sueddeutsche Zeitung stated in a a study.
Volkswagen is assuring staff they are going to keep their careers and will also be exempt from injury statements when they reveal the scandal, but board members and grades of direction directly below the board are excluded in the scheme, Sueddeutsche Zeitung stated.
The first results of the amnesty plan are supporting, the newspaper said, mentioning VW sources.
Initially the deadline was established for the end-of December but Volkswagen's top administration now considers that would remove the probe for a long time, particularly as Volkswagen is under stress for outcomes in the U.S. authorities, Sueddeutsche Zeitung stated.
Volkswagen has employed advisory organization Deloitte and U.S. law-firm Jones day-to inquire under what conditions the corporation installed application program into diesel automobiles that changed motor options to decrease emissions whenever the car was subjected to evaluations.
The scandal erupted on Sept. 18 when U.S. authorities exposed Volkswagen's use of "defeat products" to cheat evaluations for NOx emissions. Volkswagen afterwards revealed that "cheat" app was installed in up to 1 1 million diesel automobiles world-wide. The scandal widened with Volkswagen's disclosure last week that it'd also under-stated carbon dioxide emissions.
Volkswagen had not been immediately available for comment.
