Vegas police probing death of toddler left in hot car

VEGAS -- A 4-year old boy died after he was left for 90 minutes in a stifling popular vehicle while outside temperatures in Las Vegas reached 100 degrees. Policeman Laura Meltzer said Friday that Las Vegas police were phoned only before 6:30 p.m. Thursday, after the lad was discovered in the car at a house east of downtown. The Clark County Coroner's Office determined the 4-year old as Seth Franz of Vegas, CBS affiliate KLAS reported. He was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital & Health Center.No arrests have already been made.Lt. Tom Melton informed the Las Vegas Sunshine the kid's grandpa said he'd the lad with him while running errands, and they returned home about 5 p.m.Kids and Automobiles, a nonprofit that monitors child fatalities and accidents close to cars, claims it was the sixteenth such instance of its own type in the country in 2013.
