Volkswagen plans staff reduction in Brazil
Because of the reducing of demand for some models in the Latin American auto market, the Volkswagen Group made decision to lay off nearby 900 workers at two factories in Brazil.
Brazil take the fourth place as the Volkswagen’s market after the U.S., Germany and China.
Volkswagen has to adapt the changing world of increasing and decreasing of demand for cars. This is the main reason of hiring or laying off.
According to the selling statistics, during the period from January to March of this year the Brazilian plants’ production fell by eight per cent in comparison with the same period last year.
In spite of the situation connected with laying off, the Volkswagen Group still plans to invest about 10 billion dollars to the Brazilian auto market by 2018.
By the way, last month also in Brazil, another carmaker announced staff reduction. We are talking about the Daimler brand, which opened the voluntary program of laying off to decrease a number of workers by 2,000 people.
