Really, as with driver-side sliding doors and express-open windows, a diesel-powered compact appeared (and looks) like a -haven't-we-had-this-all along sort of thought. In the end, with significant fuel economy advantages and prodigious torque over big-displacement gas-powered engines, diesels are natural fits for pick-ups that are bigger, so why not little trucks?
So we were first in line Cummins-powered Frontier Crew Cab model that Nissan supplied for assessment. And while the powertrain was needing a substantial dose of refinement and rough made us that much more confident the diesel truck that was streamlined has a future here.
