Mercedes-Benz introduced its new sedan hybrid – S500 at the motor show in Frankfurt last week.
The model is equipped with a 3.0-liter V-6 turbocharged engine and an electric motor. Its engine and electric motor working together are available to produce the power of 435 horsepower with the torque of 604 lb-ft.
The hybrid power train accelerates a sedan to 60 mph in only 5.4 seconds. The maximum speed is 155 mph.
The vehicle is able to move on the electric power includes a 6.1-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery for over 18 miles.
The electric motor is charged by a socket that is placed on the rear bumper. A battery is charged while the vehicle is moving.
The fuel consumption of this novelty is planned to be about 78 mpg or 50 mpg on conditions that the battery is completely charged.
An exterior includes the Burmester sound system of the premium class, massaging seats; there are two 12-inch digital displays in the dashboard and a panoramic sunroof.
The Mercedes S500 will come on sale next year as the model of 2015 and its price is expected to be about 96,825 dollars.
