2016 Audi A4 is prepared to come soon
The next generation Audi A4 is expected on the auto market this year as a car of 2016 model year.
First, there will be a sedan, then the auto manufacturer plans to produce the wagon Avant and the Allroad later after the presentation of the new A4. New models will be offered with some alternative drivetrains as well.
The novelty is based on the MLB platform. The A4 is the second model built on that platform. We will remind you, Audi uses the MLB platform for cars from the A4 and up.
The platform known as the MLB Evo first was used in the Audi’s Sport Quattro concept. The MLB Evo consists of lightweight but solid materials such as aluminum and high-strength steel. Certainly, using those materials allows reducing the car’s weight. The new A4 weighs 200 pounds less than the present version.
The new A4 will get the front-wheel-drive as standard, while the brand’s all-wheel-drive Quattro system will be available as an optional feature. Both suspension have been updated and improved, we will exactly notice it when driving a car.
The main benefit of the new MLB Evo modular platform is in its ability to be equipped with different powertrains including alternative ones. The auto manufacturer is working on producing a plug-in hybrid version of the A4 as well as a car powered by natural gas and the electrical drive only.
However, the A4 version, which is sold in the U.S. will be equipped with the 2.0-liter TSI engine as the basic variant and the 3.-liter TSI unit as a performance version.
In addition, the carmaker will add the lineup with the 2.0-liter TDI diesel variant of the novelty. The gearbox is expected to be the six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch at will.
