A number of weeks past, we spent some time using the Mercedes-Maybach S600, Daimler's astonishing take on an inactive nameplate that has been resurrected last decade, fizzled out a several years later, and is back having a genteel kind of payback. We loved spending time supporting the wheel as in the opulent back compartment, an experience that may just be heightened in the Pullman iteration that was more grandiose.

Daimler says the back compartment resembles a "nightclub sofa." Those additional seats can, obviously, be deleted, as well as the chances for individualization are almost infinite.

The back compartment is cavernous, and Daimler maintains it offers more room than some other car in its section. Take that, Rolls Royce! The truth is, there's enough space to incorporate an electrically controlled partition between the back and front seats; in the event you would rather protect your sordid goings on in the chauffeur's view, its glass could be changed from clear to opaque. There's a regular 18.5-inch computer screen and a beautiful Burmester stereo system which can be spec'd in personalized grades of fabulousness. Rulers who prefer in addition to the marketing shy to go into hiding, will probably be protected by the broad C-pillar and window drapes.
