After ripping Ford, Trump says other automakers building in Mexico are next

Donald John Trump told a Detroit newspaper that he intends to expand his current criticism of Ford Motor Co. to contain other auto makers that are enlarging generation in Mexico instead of the U.S.
Trump, the the best Republican presidential nominee, said auto makers can reduce labour costs by shifting crops from Mi to elements of the United States where wages are lower.
"You are able to visit various areas of America and then finally you had do complete-circle -- you will return to Mi because those men are likely to need their jobs back even if it's less," Trump told The Detroit News in a phone interview. "We can do the spinning in in America -- it does not have to to stay Mexico."
He explained workers in Mi would consent to higher deals following the state "loses several plants."
Trump assaulted Ford, which has declared plans to include 3,800 occupations in Mexico with a $2.5 billion expense in motor and transmission crops, throughout a speech in Mi on Tuesday. Trump proposed that Ford should "let the illegals push the vehicles right in to our state."
He's proposed a 3-5% tax on automobiles and components that Ford imports from Mexico.
Fields reacted
Ford to day stated CEO Mark Fields replied in a e-mail to Trump detailing its current investments in the U.S.
"Mark sent Mr. Trump an email with info about Ford, including the $6.2 billion we've dedicated to our U.S. crops since 2011 and our selecting of almost 25,000 U.S. workers," Ford stated in a statement to Automotive News. "Mr. Trump thanked us for the info and stated that Ford is a terrific business and that he's a Ford consumer. We value his kind words."
Trump told The Detroit News it was a "very, good letter" but stated it did not alter his view. Trump has revealed an investment value between $600,000 and $1.25 million in Ford Motor Credit, the paper formerly reported.
Other Mexico plants
Ford is just one of of several automakers which have disclosed important growth plans in Mexico. Gm is spending $5 billion there over six years, Kia Motors is starting a $1-billion plant there next yr, and Volkswagen AG's Audi department is constructing a $1.3 billion plant there, among the others.
Asked why he'd designated Ford, "Trump stated he was not comfortable with other automakers' growth strategies. He intended to mention other auto makers, he explained, and requested The Detroit News to send info about them," the newspaper said.
Mexico is an important problem in this year's deal talks involving the Detroit 3 automakers as well as the UAW. Union members expect to maintain the car companies from transferring work south of the border in search of cheaper labour. But the car companies say it is hard to assemble little cars profitably in the US, especially as low gas costs make these automobiles less attractive to buyers.
Along with the engines and transmissions, Ford is anticipated to start making its Emphasis compact-car in Mexico several years from now. The auto-maker recently stated its Michigan Assembly Plant would cease constructing the Emphasis and Cmax in 2018, without defining where generation would transfer or what would change them. Execs have stated the Michigan plant is not going to close.
In once, Ford this week began creation of moderate-duty trucks at its plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. It formerly constructed the trucks in Mexico. That shift, declared in early 2014, called for a $168 million expense and enabled more than 1,000 employees who utilized to construct Econoline vans at the plant to keep their careers.
