FRANKFURT (Bloomberg) -- Audi A G anticipates that electronic equipment and digital characteristics can be just as crucial as absolute hp for international automakers as they brace to get a essential business shift and new adversaries and possible allies emerge.
"By 20 20, 50 per cent of value development is likely to be based on programs, applications, electronic techniques and digital solutions," and chances are "never-ending," Luca de Meo, Audi's revenue leader, said Sunday in the the writing of a speech ready for the Gadgets Show in Shanghai. "This will completely alter our business as well as our offer."
Audi mentioned the other day that it is open to other car-makers joining a team bidding for Nokia Oyj's HERE electronic-map department in rivalry with technology firms. The automotive industry continues to be grappling with the best way to incorporate electronic functions like in-vehicle connectivity and and automatic driving.
Volkswagen AG, Audi's possessor, create a task force a year ago to increase adaptation of technologies in new versions. Volkswagen said Friday that its Auto-Internet program will bundle programs for onboard use of motorists' smart phones or graphics tablets working on Google Inc.'s Android Car computer software or Apple Store's CarPlay and including speech recognition.
In the electronics show, Audi offers a-5-mile piloted push in a Audi A7 sedan in the Shanghai Expo place to the city's Bund river side district to showcase the technologies. Audi is also presenting new connectivity attributes developed jointly with Baidu Inc., and tablet notebooks from its re-vamped Q 7 sport-utility car that clients can manage by gesture.
"Never before in almost 130 years of automotive background has our business transformed as quickly and as fully as now: How we engineer our automobiles, exactly how we create them, exactly how we present a fresh version, where we promote it, who we market our vehicles to and who we work with-in the long run," Audi Chief Executive Officer Rupert Stadler said in Shanghai.
