BMW has confirmed a new plant in Mexico

As you may remember, a week ago Mercedes and Infiniti brands declared to produce their cars at the new factory in Mexico. Later, this week, the BMW Company has confirmed its plans to built BMW’s models at the Mexican plant too.
The BMW’s plant is located in San Luis Potosi. The new factory is planned to have production capacity of 150,000 cars per year. The auto manufacturer invests 1 billion dollars to establish this plant, which will start working in 2019.
Currently, BMW does not share information what models will be produced there. Although. According to the previous plans of the carmaker, the BMW 3-series will be built in Mexico for the Americans auto markets. Most likely, the Mexican plant will also launch compact models on the MINI platform.
The carmaker says it is the important step in the BMW’s strategy of development and growing. The production on Mexico has many benefits, which include competitive cost structures, access to good infrastructure and the lucrative trade agreements with the U.S.
This new factory is planned to be an additional one to the BMW’s Americans factories and the production of motorcycles in Brazil. Moreover, the auto manufacturer is also building the new car’s plant in Brazil that starts working by the end of this year.
