BMW is developing a new hybrid car of the 7-Series
You are wrong if you think that currently BMW is working on only development of new i8 and i3 models. According to the information, the carmaker is preparing to launch some new plug-in hybrid sedans, SUVs and other models soon. One of them is the new X5, which was showed as the eDrive concept recently; the second novelty will be the new hybrid of 7-series.
We have already noticed some prototypes of the present models of 7-series that have the special code name –the G11. All these vehicles have the special sticker “the hybrid test vehicle”.
Unfortunately, now it is not known anything about the future gearbox of these hybrid novelties; however, according to unconfirmed news, the updated hybrid 7-series will be equipped with the six-cylinder engine working with the electric motor. We may suppose that the setup will be similar to the transmission system of the Mercedes S500 hybrid.
Anyway, we are also able to consider that the BMW auto manufacturer plans to offer different driving modes including the electrical mode only.
We will see the new 7-Series hybrid not earlier than by the end of next year. But the car will come on the market as a model of 2016.
