BMW is preparing to present its new 6-series at the Detroit motor show

The 6-Series has been slightly updated, but not all changes are so significant. Most likely, that is a reason of the auto manufacturer to present the vehicle in its middle cycle updating as a model of 2015. The carmaker plans to launch three main versions of the upgraded 6-series, they are a convertible, coupe and a coupe with four doors. In addition, the automaker has promised to produce their more respective versions as well.

Since 2012, when BMW first launched the 6-series, there were over 80,000 cars sold. The carmaker’s designers planned to continue launching of these popular and well-selling models. However, they are working on updating the 6-series cars to make them sportier and more powerful.

Some models are equipped with more powerful engines; the basic variant of the 2015 model is equipped with the 3.0-liter six-in-line turbocharged engine, which is able to produce the output of 315 horsepower to compare with the previous version, which issued 300 horsepower. Next variant gets the 4.4-liter V8 turbocharged engine, producing the output of 445 horsepower; and the top version, which is equipped with the 4.4-liter V8 turbocharged powertrain issuing the output of 560 horsepower and if the model offered in the Competition pack with the output of 575 horsepower.
The basic vehicle gest the rear-wheel-drive as standard, other version level up are available with all-wheel-drive xDrive.

All versions get the standard eight-speed automatic Steptronic gearbox while the M6 is equipped with the M-DCT seven-speed dual-clutch.

Those powertrains are able to accelerate the car quite quickly. Both coupe variants accelerates from 0 mph to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 155 mph.
The exterior changes include a redesigned sporty front bumper with new intakes, a more prominent grille, new LED headlights, which are standard, aerodynamic side mirrors and new wheels patterns.

Inside, there are also many changes for the interior such as Nappa or Dakota leather trims are available, the brand’s navigation system of the latest generation, heating adjustable seats, climate control separate for two zones and other features.
According to the auto manufacturer, the latest 6-series is planned to be officially introduced at the annual show in Detroit and come on the market in spring.
