Baby boy dies after being left in hot car at school

DELTONA, Fla. -- Investigators in central Florida say an infant son died after being accidentally left in a car in a middle school with a teacher who was likely to be taking care of the kid. Volusia County Sheriff's Office detectives say the 6-month old son died Friday after being left in the back-seat of the SUV parked at Deltona Middle-School for most of the day. The sheriff's office has started an investigation, but no charges were instantly filed.CBS affiliate WKMG reports that according to deputies the instructor arrived at the school around 7 a.m. Friday, and the infant son was discovered only after 4 p.m. at the front parking-lot of the school. "This is certainly one of the days which you do not enjoy being the sheriff."A college deputy ran to the car a short period afterwards, but it was overly late.WKMG reports that Volusia County Schools released a statement about the incident."Our deepest sympathy goes out to the household and the Deltona Middle-School neighborhood.
