Cadillac CT6 will be offered with a plug-in hybrid system
The new flagship sedan of Cadillac, which is named the CT6 based on the new Omega platform with the rear-wheel-drive. The novelty comes on the market next year and will be equipped with the plug-in hybrid set as well. Moreover, the novelty will be one of the lightest hybrid car in the world.
The product development chief of General Motors says that hybrid system will allow reducing the fuel consumption by 70 mpg. Meanwhile, similar technology has been recently found in the latest Porsche Panamera and probably, the next Mercedes S-class will get the one.
In addition, the CT6 will be equipped with the 3.0-liter V6 twin turbocharged engine, which will work with the eight-speed automatic gearbox and that powertrain might be the most powerful gasoline unit with six cylinders in its class.
The structure of the CT6 consists of aluminum, lightweight materials and high-strength steel that allows reducing the weight of the car by about 53 pounds. However, the novelty will be longer by eight inches. According to the carmaker, the novelty will weigh 3,615 pounds as well.
Inside, the novelty will be equipped with the special rear view mirror, which displays the view of the backup camera as well.
Cadillac plans to introduce the CT6 as a car of 2016 model year, at the auto show in New York next spring.
